Project Dusted - Jeffs 1971 Drag Duster


Project Dusted!

After being in storage for five years, the time has come to get her back into race trim. We are starting off with a well used 1971 Plymouth Duster. I raced this car until 2003.  I made many changes in my life including my coming to work at Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler. We started Moparsupercenter.com shortly after my arrival and there just wasn’t much time to spend on the Duster. Follow along as we install a 410 Mopar Performance Stroker motor and we get this hotrod back up ready to race.

The first picture is the Duster fresh out of the garage. I had started stripping the body and applied primer before putting the Duster away.

Well I finally had a chance to get some work done on the car. Here is the engine compartment painted:
Here is the engine with the valve covers off. I had to change the push rods to run NO2.
M1 just back from the powder coater: 
Engine with both types of valve covers on it. I will be using the DC ones.

 6/20/08 We are going to try and get the engine installed tonight after work so stay tuned……….  
   
 6/25/08 Finally a night with no rain and some free time on my hands....the engines goes in

 Now to find the time to get everything hooked up and fire this beast up!

The Electric water pump is now in place along with the radiator,cooling fan and transmission cooler.
