Mopar Takes Top Spots In One Lap of Amercia
Mopar power was a major force at the 2007 One Lap of America event, held from May 5-12 at various locations around the United States. Mopar Performance Parts Engineers Eric Vickerman and Scott McMeekin drove a 392 HEMI-powered Dodge Charger SRT8 to the top spot of the Luxury Car class of the event.

Vickerman and McMeekin, driving the Mopar One Lap of America Dodge Charger SRT8, with an orange 392 HEMI paint scheme, bested a formidable field of BMWs and Audis to rise to the top spot of the Luxury Car class podium, finishing 14th overall. With a Dodge Charger SRT8 sixth, a Dodge Magnum SRT8 eighth and another Dodge Charger SRT8 in ninth, DaimlerChrysler vehicles grabbed four of the top 10 spots in the final Luxury Car results.

"What a great accomplishment and engineering testament for us to win the highly contested Luxury Car Class against the likes of Audi, BMW, and other SRT8s," said Vickerman, a veteran One Lap of America competitor. "Our Mopar 392 HEMI-powered Charger performed flawlessly throughout the 5,000-plus miles we drove and was an absolute joy to drive on track. I have to thank SRT and Mopar Performance Parts for listening to this crazy idea we had, and also thank AEM, StopTech Brakes, Autometer OEM, and Canton Racing Products for their product support for the event. I also want to thank my teammate and co-driver Scott McMeekin for keeping the car together all week long."

Two DaimlerChrysler vehicles, the Dodge Hennessey Viper piloted by Brian Smith and Nick Arevalo and the Dodge SRT4 steered by Douglas Wind, Devin Clancy and Ken Brewer, finished in the Top five overall. The Hennessey Viper placed second overall, with the SRT4 ranked fifth. Wind, Clancy and Brewer were No. 1 in the Mid-Priced Sedan Class, with the Dodge Neon of Dale Seeley, Greg Hagopian and Enrique Ramirez sixth in the class. .
